PNF that I use in my yoga practice

In my yoga classes that I lead, one of my favorite things to do is to use proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching to utilize the bodys natural ability to relay information to the Central Nervous System (CNS).  If you have been to a class, this is when we are in pigeon and we scissor into the floor. In my classes, I simply describe this as showing your body the difference between tense and relaxed muscles, so that you can stretch further. I had to come back to my anatomy and physiology books to remind myself why this recaction occurs. I was going to pull from my anatomy books the description of the PNF response then I came across this beautiful link with that I will send you to. Facilitated Stretching
